Crossrail project

July 2010

LPC Construction have been awarded and are progressing with important high voltage electrical work as part of the CrossRail project.  Operating in and around central London, the work is helping to deliver this major transport infrastructure upgrade under testing conditions and in accordance with exacting requirements.

33KV Upgrades

LPC Construction continue to complete vital 33kV cable upgrades on the EDF Energy network. Responsible for the civil engineering and cable installation elements of these projects, recently completed contracts have enabled overhead routes to be placed beneath ground providing network enhancement and major asset safety improvements.

LPC Construction has successfully achieved all of its Annual Key Objective targets in 2009.  Covering the core management areas of Quality, Safety and Environmental, the Company’s Annual Objectives provide a framework to drive and monitor improvement in key areas.  Notable successes during the past year include the reduction of carbon emissions by 231 tonnes and reducing the utility damage incidence rate by 63%.

EDF Energy

EDF Energy Contracting has awarded LPC Construction a three year framework agreement for civil engineering and cabling works. The contract encompasses such projects as HV and LV cable installations, street lighting upgrades and substation switchgear refurbishments throughout the Eastern, Southern and London Power Network Regions.

LPC’s Commercial Director, Paul Phillips said “we are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious, long term contract. Achilles ‘Verify’ that LPC Perform

LPC Construction has successfully renewed it’s ‘Verify’ Category B2 accreditation with Achilles.

The process, which took place over two days in May 2009, included a thorough assessment of the Company’s Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental systems both at LPC’s head office in Watford and on-site in Reading.

Speaking after the assessment, Neil Coates, LPC Construction’s Technical Director said “we are delighted to have renewed our registration with Achilles Verify as it is an important procurement tool for many of our valued customers.”

LPC Wins Gold Again!

For the second year running, LPC is celebrating winning one of the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

The Gold Award will be presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday 13th May.  The ceremony will take place alongside Safety & Health Expo 2009, Europe’s leading annual health and safety exhibition.

David Rawlins, RoSPA awards manager, said “LPC Construction Ltd has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of it's employees and others. Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business, and clearly demonstrates an organisation's dedication to improving performance in this crucial area".

LPC Secure NERS Renewal

Islington lights

Islington PFI Scheme Success

LPC have helped to replace more than 6,000 street lights in Islington over the past five years as part of a huge revamp of lighting in the borough.

The Public Lighting PFI Project has also installed an extra 1,360 lamp posts across the borough and replaced 1,240 traffic signposts and belisha beacons. Working on the project since its inception in 2003, LPC Construction has worked alongside EDF Energy and latterly, Scottish & Southern Energy to relight 105 miles of roads.

Cllr James Kempton, Leader of Islington Council, said, “This has been hugely successful and Islington is now better lit than ever before. Good lighting makes streets safer, and we know that’s vital for residents. It also brings our communities to life after dark.” Patrick Leneghan, Construction Director for LPC Construction, said, “LPC is delighted to have been part of such a successful team on what was a pioneering scheme and one which has contributed greatly to improved safety in Islington”.

The end of the five-year lighting project was marked with a community ‘Spotlight Islington’ event in Laycock Street on Monday 4th August with face painting, story telling and competitions.

LPC Achieves OHSAS 18001

LPC has become one of the first construction companies to achieve certification to the 2007 Occupational Health and Safety British Standard 18001 for Management Systems, BS OHSAS 18001:2007.
